 Coil Nails Description:

Coil nails usually refer to pneumatic coil nails used in the manufacture or repair of wooden pallets. Pallets need to withstand the weight of cargo, forklift handling, stacking pressure, and vibration during transportation. Coil nails must have high pull-out and shear resistance to ensure a secure and reliable connection.

 

Common Specifications:

50 x 2.5mm Hot-Dip Galvanized Full-Thread Coil Nail - A very basic and common specification, suitable for connecting medium-thickness timber.

 

63 x 2.5mm Hot-Dip Galvanized Full-Thread Coil Nail - One of the most common and core specifications, suitable for connecting standard-thickness pallet main frames.

 

63 x 2.8mm Hot-Dip Galvanized Full-Thread Coil Nail - Thicker and stronger, used for connections requiring higher strength or with harder timbers.

 

76 x 2.8mm Hot-Dip Galvanized Full-Thread Coil Nail - Used for connecting extremely thick timber (such as large angle pieces, reinforcement pieces) or where extra grip depth is required.

 

Nail Length: Pallets are typically constructed of thicker wood. Common coil nail lengths range from 50mm (2 inches) to 76mm (3 inches). 50mm and 63mm (2.5 inches) are the most common.

 

Nail Diameter: To provide the necessary strength and holding power, nails are relatively thick. Common nail diameters range from 2.2mm to 2.8mm. 2.5mm is a very popular size.

 

Nails thread: This is the most significant feature that distinguishes pallet coil nails from ordinary smooth or ring nails!

 

Extremely strong pullout resistance: The threads "bite" into the wood fibers like a screw, significantly reducing the risk of the nail being pulled out.

 

Excellent holding power: The joint remains tight even when the wood contracts, expands, or is subjected to vibration.

 

Reduces wood cracking: Compared to smooth nails, threaded nails compress the wood fibers more gradually during driving, sometimes reducing end cracking.

 

Nail cap: 

Typically has a large, flat head (sometimes a large, ribbed head). It Provides larger bearing surface, preventing the nail head from digging into the wood when stressed (causing a loose connection). Better distributes the impact force during driving.

 

Surface Treatment (Rust Resistance):

 

Stainless steel: The best choice for Humid kitchen environment, especially 304 stainless steel. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, resists rust and discoloration, and has a long service life. While slightly more expensive, it's a worthwhile investment for long-term furniture like cabinets.

 

Galvanized Steel: 

. Regular galvanizing: Lower cost and offers some rust resistance, but it can still rust in humid or salty environments. It can be used for interior structures in dry areas.

 

. Colored galvanizing (e.g., yellow zinc, blue-white zinc, etc.): Offers superior rust resistance to standard galvanizing, offers a relatively high cost-effectiveness, and is a popular choice.
