Okoume is brownish-red in color, with a straight, fine, and uniform veneer texture. The veneer surface is slightly fuzzy, but it has excellent adhesive properties, is easy to nail, and dries quickly without defects. The wood is dense and fine.

Plywood Features:

Appearance: The heartwood is orange-red to light reddish-brown, with straight, even grain and a fine structure, suitable for varnishing or light staining, creating a natural, soft effect.

Physical Properties: Lightweight, with an air-dry density of approximately 0.48 g/cm³, it is easy to handle and process. Its low hardness provides excellent structural stability and strong resistance to bending and deformation.

Processability: Easy to cut, sand, and glue, making it suitable for carving or curved surfaces. It resists cracking when fastened with nails or screws, making it suitable for mass production.

Corrosion Resistance: Its natural corrosion resistance is weak, requiring anti-corrosion treatment for outdoor use or in high-humidity environments.

Surface Treatment: Susceptible to scratching by hard objects, requiring an abrasion-resistant coating such as UV lacquer. The wood is susceptible to oxidation and discoloration, requiring a sealer to maintain color stability.

Plywood Applications:

Furniture Manufacturing: Used in the frames of chairs, coffee tables, and bedside tables, decorative components such as cabinet door veneers and drawer fronts, and in the production of modern curved furniture. Renovation and Decoration: Wall or ceiling cladding, concealed door core materials (requires fire-retardant coating), small craft items such as picture and photo frames.

Special Applications: Marine interiors and model making, such as the base material for yacht cabins and architectural model exhibition stands (requires waterproofing).
